Just wanted to kick this blog into high gear by 'splainin a little more about myself. My name is Nick, I'm 32 years old, and I live in Portland with my boyfriend Miguel and our two cats, Fumanchu and Churro.
I started videography about 12 years ago in Lass Vegas and worked for a small studio for about four years before starting a short but wonderfull career in home furnishing retail. A couple of years ago I was forced to find a different path and decided to go back and finish some school and refocus my multimedia skills. I've since then immersed myself in all things digital media, from motion graphics to video games. I would love to learn everything about everything, but I also don't want to be in school forever or have massive debt, so. I want to jump in head first.
Thankfully, I did get just that opportunity when a paid internship has left me with a part time job editing and designing motion graphics for stylish educational videos at an organization called Northwest Power Pool. I really enjoy being able to be self directed and creative at work, and I especially love working with a crew of other nerdy creative types, something. I haven't been able to enjoy before.
Unfortunatley the NWPP gig has a certain life expectancy, so there is a small amount of anxiety about finding work afterwards. It can't really ever become a full time job, but for the time being I will enjoy the ride.
